Our 17U team played for the circuit title

NYC Honor reached the championship game of the MADE Hoops Circuit, the summer's biggest stage for grassroots basketball. Here is how the run actually went.

April · NYC Clash
Beat a UAA program on day one of the MADE Hoops NYC Clash.
July 8 · Summer Live
Won their Summer Live debut 77-70 over Midwest Basketball.
July 18 · Round of 32
Beat Jersey Force to reach the Sweet 16 at the Summer Live Finale.
July 19 · Semifinal
Put out Team Iverson to reach the final. Emmanuel Malok: 17 points, 13 rebounds, 2 blocks.
July 19 · Baltimore Convention Center
Played West Michigan Premier for the 17U MHC championship. They took the title. We got there.

At the MADE Hoops NYC Clash in April he scored 40 in a win over Cold Hearts, then 35 more in a win over Drifty Elite. In Baltimore in July he hit a buzzer beater during the playoff run and started in the championship game.

On August 2 he was offered a scholarship by Boston University. On September 15 he committed to Fairfield University, a Division I program. He played the 2026 season as a junior and is now in his senior year.

None of that happens from a gym in Queens. It happens because somebody paid for the hotel, the entry fee, and the bus to Baltimore, and put him on a floor where college coaches were standing three deep along the baseline.

He is not the only one. Emmanuel Malok, class of 2027, picked up three Division I offers in the span of a month, including La Salle. Carter Abrahams, class of 2030, stepped in when the roster got thin in Baltimore and became the youngest 17U player in the history of the MADE Hoops Circuit.

About NYC Honor

NYC Honor is an IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) grassroots basketball organization based in Queens, New York, founded in 2026 with a mission to develop the city's most talented and academically driven young athletes.

Our program competes on the Made Hoops MHC Circuit, one of the most competitive grassroots basketball platforms in the country. We bring Elite coaching expertise to every player who steps on our court.

We believe that basketball opens doors, but academics and character keep them open. Every NYC Honor athlete is held to the highest standards both in competition and in the classroom.

Our players are talented and driven, and like most young athletes they are handed a basketball but never a financial education. We change that. Every NYC Honor athlete can learn how money actually works, including taxes, NIL income, saving, and investing, before they leave for college. Your support funds both: a kid’s season on the court, and their financial future off it.

Mike Murray, President and Co-Founder
PRESIDENT AND CO-FOUNDER

Mike Murray

Mike Murray is a former college basketball coach with a decade of experience. He knows the landscape. He knows exactly what it takes to prepare young players for the next level.

Having coached at the NCAA Division II level for 5 years and run recruiting events/tournaments for Hoop Group, Mike has deep ties to college programs across the country. He understands what college coaches want to see. More importantly, he knows how to get his players the exposure they need to actually get recruited.

Mike's focus is pure development and discipline. In August 2024, he joined the FDNY. He brings that same toughness and commitment to every player he steps on the court with.

Nas Perovic, Director of Player Development

Nas Perovic

Nas Perovic is a veteran grassroots basketball coach and talent developer with over 15 years of experience in the national basketball landscape. Throughout his career, he has coached and recruited across the premier circuits in grassroots basketball including Nike EYBL, Adidas 3SSB, Under Armour Association (UAA), and Hoop Group.

Perovic has built a strong reputation for player development, recruiting guidance, and relationship building with college programs nationwide. Over the last six years alone, he has helped place more than 40 players into Division I basketball programs, while guiding families through the recruiting process.

His impact extends beyond college placement. One of the players he mentored went on to be selected in the NBA Draft, a testament to his ability to identify and develop elite talent.

With the introduction of Name, Image, and Likeness opportunities, Perovic has also helped athletes navigate the new era of college athletics, facilitating more than $2 million in NIL opportunities for players since the rule changes began.

Through his leadership and network, Perovic continues to play a major role in shaping the next generation of high-level basketball talent.

Mike and Eslyn met playing pickup in Glendale, Forest Hills, and Middle Village. Eslyn was at Archbishop Molloy, a few years ahead of Mike at St. Francis Prep. They have been friends ever since, and they started NYC Honor together.

The foundation's treasurer and secretary are affiliated with Sirmium Capital, the 2026 season's founding sponsor. Sponsorships are acknowledged, never compensated with promotion.

In Memory

The Claribel Hernandez Memorial Grant

The foundation awards a $5,000 grant each year in memory of Claribel Hernandez. The first grant began on September 11, 2026, with $2,500 awarded and the rest to follow. The grant carries a full team's season: travel, uniforms, and tournament entry.

Established by her son, foundation treasurer Eslyn Joseph Hernandez, and funded by Sirmium Capital.

Your gift funds an athlete’s season: travel, uniforms and tournament entry. Our goal for 2027 is two teams. The money course is free for every athlete, built by our volunteers. Gifts are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law.
